<p><strong>1. HIS PRESENCE: EXODUS 33:14<br />
</strong>The LORD replied, &#8220;My Presence will go with you, and I will give you rest.&#8221;</p>
<p><strong>2. HIS FORGIVENESS: 2 CHRONICLES 7:14<br />
</strong>If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land.</p>
<p><strong>3. HIS FRIENDSHIP: PSALM 25: 14</strong><br />
The LORD confides in those who fear him; he makes his covenant known to them.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>God gave Moses the Ten Commandments on Mount Sinai to lead his people. He has set some guide lines and gave it to Moses written on Two tablets which we call as the Ten commandments. They contained rules and regulations for Israel and for god&#8217;s people to follow through out their lives.</p>
<p>The Ten Commandments are given in <a href="http://bible.christianity.com/mybst/default.aspx?reference=Exodus%2020:1&amp;type=bible&amp;translation=niv">Exodus 20:1-17</a> they are</p>
<p>I. You shall have no other gods before me.<br />
II. You shall not worship false gods.<br />
III. You shall never take my name in vain.<br />
IV. You shall keep the Sabbath day holy.<br />
V. Honor your father and your mother.<br />
VI. You shall not murder.<br />
VII . You shall not commit adultery.<br />
VIII . You shall not steal.<br />
IX. You shall not lie.<br />
X. You shall never want what belongs to someone else.</p>
<p>These are the commandments which God has given to his people in the Old testament and i also believe that these are also applicable for the New testament believers and most of the time we overlook these commandments saying that they are for old testament people and it does not have any influence on me because the New Testament believers are under Grace but we also forget that the Old Testament Examples are reflections for the New Testament Believers.</p>
<p>When I read them and also started to look from a modern approach I found out that there are many commandments we compromise or we think that God is not interested in looking at small things but our God is a God of Discipline and looks at details. We tend to overlook them for ex lets look at the First Commandment is <strong>“You shall have no other gods before me”</strong> and when we look at this commandment in the present day or in the modern version it is <strong>“You shall consider God first in ALL things”</strong> let me put this in two points how we understand this</p>
<p>A. In ancient days, people worshiped statues created by man. They were believed to have supernatural powers. Today, enlightened people feel they are immune to this law; however, we still have other “gods” in this world. We worship by putting our energy into things that are not of God, or we simply have “no God.”</p>
<p>B. Some activities rob us of our time and attention to God and His priorities. Lots of activities seem to be interesting as they occupy our time, but they do not help us fulfill our long term goals or purpose. Other activities actually force us in the wrong direction and are harmful. Each person must be single-minded and focused, not letting idle activities become distracting gods.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>I had the privilege of attending a conference in Mysore, India and it was a great blessing for me and my family. We had a very good time over there meeting all my friends and old contacts and the messages delivered by the saints of God were really power full and challenged.</p>
<p>There were lot of things which I learned from there but I would like to list down “The Five Secrets for Life” as listed down by Uncle PC Varghese in one of his messages in the conference.</p>
<p>I was really once again challenged by these because I used to follow them but used to overlook at them at various times in my life and it was a challenge for me at that time and I took a decision to follow them once again in my life and this time what I did was took a big printout of these points and pasted it on the wall in my living room so that this will remain in front of me and becomes a reminder for me all the time that I might not forget to give the first place to Jesus in all areas of my life.</p>
<p><strong>Give Jesus the first place in your love</strong></p>
<p><strong>Give Jesus the first part of each and every thing of every day of your life</strong></p>
<p><strong>Give Lord Jesus the first day of every week. Don’t Make Sunday a holiday from holyday</strong></p>
<p><strong>Don’t make any decision before consulting GOD and don’t execute a decision without a verse from the bible to support your decision. </strong></p>
<p><strong>Give Jesus the first part of your income.</strong></p>

<p><img src="http://kiranpaul.files.wordpress.com/2009/08/bible3.jpg?w=133&#038;h=150" alt="bible3" title="bible3" width="133" height="150" class="alignleft size-thumbnail wp-image-26" /><strong>GENESIS:</strong> Genesis speaks of beginnings—of the heavens and the earth, of light and darkness, of seas and skies, of land and vegetation, of sun and moon and stars, of sea and air and land animals, of human beings (made in God’s own image, the climax of his creative activity), of marriage and family, of society and civilization, of sin and redemption. The list could go on and on. A key word in Genesis is “account,” which also serves to divide the book into its ten major parts and which includes such concepts as birth, genealogy and history</p>
<p><strong>EXODUS:</strong> Exodus lays a foundational theology in which God reveals his name, his attributes, his redemption, his law and how he is to be worshiped. It also reports the appointment and work of Moses as the mediator of the Sinaitic covenant, describes the beginnings of the priesthood in Israel, defines the role of the prophet and relates how the ancient covenant relationship between God and his people (see note on Gen 17:2) came under a new administration (the covenant given at Mount Sinai).</p>
<p><strong>LEVITICUS: </strong>Leviticus is a manual of regulations enabling the holy King to set up his earthly throne among the people of his kingdom. It explains how they are to be his holy people and to worship him in a holy manner. Holiness in this sense means to be separated from sin and set apart exclusively to the Lord for his purpose and for his glory. So the key thought of the book is holiness (see notes on 11:44; Ex 3:5)—the holiness of God and his people (they must revere him in “holiness”).</p>
<p><strong>NUMBERS: </strong>Numbers relates the story of Israel’s journey from Mount Sinai to the plains of Moab on the border of Canaan. Much of its legislation for people and priests is similar to that in Exodus, Leviticus and Deuteronomy. The book tells of the murmuring and rebellion of God’s people and of their subsequent judgment. Those whom God had redeemed from slavery in Egypt and with whom he had made a covenant at Mount Sinai responded not with faith, gratitude and obedience but with unbelief, ingratitude and repeated acts of rebellion, which came to extreme expression in their refusal to undertake the conquest of Canaan (ch. 14). The community of the redeemed forfeited their part in the Promised Land. They were condemned to live out their lives in the desert; only their children would enjoy the fulfillment of the promise that had originally been theirs (cf. Heb 3:7—4:11).</p>
<p><strong>DEUTERONOMY:</strong> Deuteronomy relates the love relationship of the Lord to his people, and that of the people to the Lord as their sovereign God, pervade the whole book. Deuteronomy’s spiritual emphasis and its call to total commitment to the Lord in worship and obedience inspired references to its message throughout the rest of Scripture. In particular, the division of the Hebrew Bible called the Former Prophets (Joshua, Judges, Samuel, Kings) is thoroughly imbued with the style, themes and motifs of Deuteronomy. Among the Latter Prophets, Jeremiah also reflects strong influence from this book.</p>
<p><strong>JOSHUA: </strong>Joshua is a story of conquest and fulfillment for the people of God. After many years of slavery in Egypt and 40 years in the desert, the Israelites were finally allowed to enter the land promised to their fathers. Abraham, always a migrant, never possessed the country to which he was sent, but he left to his children the legacy of God’s covenant that made them the eventual heirs of all of Canaan (see Ge 15:13,16,18; 17:8). Joshua was destined to turn that promise into reality.</p>
<p><strong>JUDGES:</strong> Judges depicts the life of Israel in the Promised Land from the death of Joshua to the rise of the monarchy. On the one hand, it is an account of frequent apostasy, provoking divine chastening. On the other hand, it tells of urgent appeals to God in times of crisis, moving the Lord to raise up leaders (judges) through whom he throws off foreign oppressors and restores the land to peace.</p>
<p><strong>RUTH:</strong> Ruth relates the importance of faithful love in human relationships among God’s kingdom people is powerfully underscored. The author focuses on Ruth’s unswerving and selfless devotion to desolate Naomi (1:16–17; 2:11–12; 3:10; 4:15) and on Boaz’s kindness to these two widows (chs. 2–4). He presents striking examples of lives that embody in their daily affairs the self-giving love that fulfills God’s law (Lev 19:18; cf. Ro 13:10). Such love also reflects God’s love, in a marvelous joining of human and divine actions (compare 2:12 with 3:9). In God’s benevolence such lives are blessed and are made a blessing.</p>
<p><strong>1 and 2 SAMUEL: </strong>1 and 2 Samuel are named after the person God used to establish monarchy in Israel. Samuel not only anointed both Saul and David, Israel’s first two kings, but he also gave definition to the new order of God’s rule over Israel. Samuel’s role as God’s representative in this period of Israel’s history is close to that of Moses (see Ps 99:6; Jer 15:1) since he, more than any other person, provided for covenant continuity in the transition from the rule of the judges to that of the monarchy.</p>
<p><strong>1 and 2 KINGS:</strong> 1 and 2 Kings (like 1 and 2 Samuel and 1 and 2 Chronicles) are actually one literary work, called in Hebrew tradition simply “Kings.” The division of this work into two books was introduced by the translators of the Septuagint (the pre-Christian Greek translation of the OT) and subsequently followed in the Latin Vulgate (c. a.d. 400) and most modern versions. In 1448 the division into two sections also appeared in a Hebrew manuscript and was perpetuated in later printed editions of the Hebrew text. Both the Septuagint and the Latin Vulgate further designated Samuel and Kings in a way that emphasized the relationship of these two works (Septuagint: First, Second, Third and Fourth Book of Kingdoms; Latin Vulgate: First, Second, Third and Fourth Kings). Together Samuel and Kings relate the whole history of the monarchy, from its rise under the ministry of Samuel to its fall at the hands of the Babylonians.</p>
<p><strong>1 and 2 CHRONICLES:</strong> Just as the author of Kings had organized and interpreted the data of Israel’s history to address the needs of the exiled community, so the Chronicler wrote for the restored community. The burning issue was the question of continuity with the past: Is God still interested in us? Are his covenants still in force? Now that we have no Davidic king and are subject to Persia, do God’s promises to David still have meaning for us? After the great judgment (the dethroning of the house of David, the destruction of the nation, of Jerusalem and of the temple, and the exile to Babylon), what is our relationship to Israel of old?</p>
<p><strong>EZRA and NEHEMIAH: </strong>The books of Ezra and Nehemiah relate how God’s covenant people were restored from Babylonian exile to the covenant land as a theocratic (kingdom of God) community even while continuing under Gentile rule.</p>
<p><strong>ESTHER: </strong>Esther was written to explain the origin of the Feast of Purim and to ensure that it would be observed by all future generations of the Jewish people (9:28). It is also clear that it has achieved this purpose, since Jews have continued to observe Purim to the present day, with the book of Esther being read as part of the festivities. The word Purim is derived from the Persian word pur (“lot”) and recalls how Haman, the enemy of the Jews, cast lots to determine the best day to carry out his plan to exterminate them (3:7).</p>
<p><strong>JOB: </strong>When good people (those who “fear God and shun evil,” 1:1) suffer, the human spirit struggles to understand. Throughout recorded history people have asked: How can this be? If God is almighty and “holds the whole world in his hands” and if he is truly good, how can he allow such an outrage? The way this question has often been put leaves open three possibilities: (1) God is not almighty after all; (2) God is not just (is not wholly good but has a demonic streak in him); (3) humans may be innocent. In ancient Israel, however, it was indisputable that God is almighty, that he is perfectly just and that no human is pure in his sight. These three assumptions were also fundamental to the theology of Job and his friends. Simple logic then dictated the conclusion: Every person’s suffering is indicative of the measure of their guilt in the eyes of God. In the abstract, this conclusion appeared inescapable, logically imperative and theologically satisfying.</p>
<p><strong>PSALMS: </strong>The Psalter is for the most part a book of prayer and praise. In it faith speaks to God in prayer and of God in praise. But there are also psalms that are explicitly didactic (instructional) in form and purpose (teaching the way of godliness). (Collection, Arrangement and Date), the manner in which the whole collection has been arranged suggests that one of its main purposes was instruction in the life of faith, a faith formed and nurtured by the Law, the Prophets and the canonical wisdom literature. Accordingly, the Psalter is theologically rich. Its theology is, however, not abstract or systematic but doxological, confessional and practical. So a summation of that “theology” impoverishes it by translating it into an objective mode.</p>
<p><strong>PROVERBS: </strong>Proverbs was written to give “prudence to the simple, knowledge and discretion to the young” (1:4), and to make the wise even wiser (1:5). The frequent references to “my son(s)” (1:8,10; 2:1; 3:1; 4:1; 5:1) emphasize instructing the young and guiding them in a way of life that yields rewarding ends. Acquiring wisdom and knowing how to avoid the pitfalls of folly lead to personal well-being, happy family relationships, fruitful labors and good standing in the community. Although Proverbs is a practical book dealing with the art of living, it bases its practical wisdom solidly on the fear of the Lord (1:7; see Ps 34:8–14 and note). Throughout the book reverence for God and reliance on him are set forth as the path to life, prosperity and security (cf. 3:5–10; 9:10–12; 14:26–27; 16:3,6–7; 18:10; 19:23; 20:22; 22:4; 28:25; 29:25). Such godly wisdom is a virtual “tree of life” (3:18; 11:30; 13:12; 15:4) that yields the happy life that God fashioned the creation to produce.</p>
<p><strong>ECCLESIASTES:</strong> The author of Ecclesiastes puts his powers of wisdom to work to examine the human experience and assess the human situation. His perspective is limited to what happens “under the sun” (as is that of all the wisdom teachers). He considers life as he has experienced and observed it between the horizons of birth and death—life within the boundaries of this visible world. His wisdom cannot penetrate beyond that last horizon; he can only observe the phenomenon of death and perceive the limits it places on human beings. Within the limits of human experience and observation, he is concerned to spell out what is “good” for people to do. And he represents a devout wisdom. Life in the world is under God—for all its enigmas. Hence what begins with “Meaningless! Meaningless!” (1:2) ends with “Remember your Creator” (12:1) and “Fear God and keep his commandments” (12:13).</p>
<p><strong>SONG OF SONGS: </strong>In ancient Israel everything human came to expression in words: reverence, gratitude, anger, sorrow, suffering, trust, friendship, commitment, loyalty, hope, wisdom, moral outrage, repentance. In the Song, it is love that finds words—inspired words that disclose its exquisite charm and beauty as one of God’s choicest gifts. The voice of love in the Song, like that of wisdom in Pr 8:1—9:12, is a woman’s voice, suggesting that love and wisdom draw men powerfully with the subtlety and mystery of a woman’s allurements.<br />
This feminine voice speaks profoundly of love. She portrays its beauty and delights. She claims its exclusiveness (“My lover is mine and I am his,” 2:16) and insists on the necessity of its pure spontaneity (“Do not arouse or awaken love until it so desires,” 2:7). She also proclaims its overwhelming power—it rivals that of the fearsome enemy, death; it burns with the intensity of a blazing fire; it is unquenchable even by the ocean depths (8:6–7a). She affirms its preciousness: All that one possesses cannot purchase it, nor (alternatively) should it be exchanged for it (8:7b). She hints, without saying so explicitly (see the last NIV text note on 8:6), that it is the Lord’s gift.</p>
<p><strong>ISAIAH:</strong> Isaiah is a book that unveils the full dimensions of God’s judgment and salvation. God is “the Holy One of Israel” (see 1:4; 6:1 and notes) who must punish his rebellious people (1:2) but will afterward redeem them (41:14,16). Israel is a nation blind and deaf (6:9–10; 42:7), a vineyard that will be trampled (5:1–7), a people devoid of justice or righteousness (5:7; 10:1–2). The awful judgment that will be unleashed upon Israel and all the nations that defy God is called “the day of the Lord.” Although Israel has a foretaste of that day (5:30; 42:25), the nations bear its full power (see 2:11,17,20 and note). It is a day associated in the NT with Christ’s second coming and the accompanying judgment (see 24:1,21; 34:1–2 and notes). Throughout the book, God’s judgment is referred to as “fire” (see 1:31; 30:33 and notes). He is the “Sovereign Lord” (see note on 25:8), far above all nations and rulers (40:15–24).</p>
<p><strong>JEREMIAH:</strong> The book preserves an account of the prophetic ministry of Jeremiah, whose personal life and struggles are shown to us in greater depth and detail than those of any other OT prophet. The meaning of his name is uncertain. Suggestions include “The Lord exalts” and “The Lord establishes,” but a more likely proposal is “The Lord throws,” either in the sense of “hurling” the prophet into a hostile world or of “throwing down” the nations in divine judgment for their sins. For Jeremiah, God was ultimate. Called to the unhappy task of announcing the destruction of the kingdom of Judah (thoroughly corrupted by the long and evil reign of Manasseh and only superficially affected by Josiah’s efforts at reform), it was Jeremiah’s commission to lodge God’s indictment against his people and proclaim the end of an era.</p>
<p><strong>LAMENTATIONS:</strong> Lamentations is not the only OT book that contains individual or community laments. (A large number of the Psalms are lament poems, and every prophetic book except Haggai includes one or more examples of the lament genre.) Lamentations is the only book, however, that consists solely of laments.</p>
<p><strong>EZEKIEL:</strong> Though Ezekiel lived with his fellow exiles in Babylon, his divine call forced him to suppress any natural expectations he may have had of an early return to an undamaged Jerusalem. For the first seven years of his ministry (593–586 b.c.) he faithfully relayed to his fellow Jews the stern, heart-rending, hope-crushing word of divine judgment: Because of all her sins, Jerusalem would fall (see chs. 1–24). The fact that Israel was God’s covenant people and that Jerusalem was the city of his temple would not bring their early release from exile or prevent Jerusalem from being destroyed (see Jer 29–30). The only hope the prophet was authorized to extend to his hearers was that of living at peace with themselves and with God during their exile.</p>
<p><strong>DANIEL:</strong> The theological theme of the book is summarized in 4:17; 5:21: “The Most High (God) is sovereign over the kingdoms of men.” Daniel’s visions always show God as triumphant (7:11,26–27; 8:25; 9:27). The climax of his sovereign rule is described in Revelation: “The kingdom of the world has become the kingdom of our Lord and of his Christ [i.e., Messiah, ‘Anointed One’], and he will reign for ever and ever” The book is made up primarily of historical narrative (found mainly in chs. 1–6) and apocalyptic (“revelatory”) material (found mainly in chs. 7–12). The latter may be defined as symbolic, visionary, prophetic literature, usually composed during oppressive conditions and being chiefly eschatological in theological content. Apocalyptic literature is primarily a literature of encouragement to the people of God</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p><img src="http://kiranpaul.files.wordpress.com/2009/08/josphbros1.jpg?w=119&#038;h=150" alt="josphbros" title="josphbros" width="119" height="150" class="alignleft size-thumbnail wp-image-16" />Joseph was despised by his brothers because they believed that their father loved Joseph more than he loved them. They were jealous of him and the dreams that God had given him. If they were to believe his dreams, they would also have to believe that someday Joseph would rule over them. They despised him for this.</p>
<p>Joseph was sold into slavery to the Ishmeelites who sold him into Egypt and things started to turn over here. He might have taught that the dreams which he had were not real if God has given him these dreams then why is it happening to me or will all these come true. Doubts might have come but Joseph being a Godly man did not give these doubts a foot hold but stood firm in his faith.</p>
<p>Joseph was placed under the dominion of an officer in the strongest army in the world (Potiphar of Egypt, Genesis 37:36) In spite of Joseph being falsely accused and put in prison his faith in God did not deter and we finally see how god has raised him to the highest position next to the pharaoh. And we could see that his brother and whole of his family bow’s down to him as it was revealed in the dream and how he could save his family from the famine.</p>
<p>While going through the life of Joseph I could clearly see that even though circumstances do not favor us our faith in the Lord Jesus Christ should not deter.  Let me put down few thought or truths from one of the heroes of Bible i.e. Joseph</p>
<p>1. God has a purpose for every life.</p>
<p>2. A purpose for every one calls for discipline as a means of preparation (Trails &amp; sufferings are a part of god’s School in training the believers for a special work)</p>
<p>3. The duty of life is faithfulness. (Confidence in god and faithfulness in Him)</p>
<p>4. God will perform to the end what he has begun.</p>
<p>5. God is glorified when others are faithfully served. (it can be our parents, family members, our superiors, employers and the list goes on….)</p>
<p>6. God proves himself to those who trust him. (Commit thy ways unto the Lord and He will sustain you).</p>
<p>7. God’s wisdom is verified by the outcome of events. Wait on God timings in all details of Life.</p>
<p>Now the Question arises how can we do or wait upon the Lord in difficult times. It can be done in many ways and one of the ways is</p>
<p>Begin to praise God for everything for everything both good and bad and as we do it our joy and peace increases (Phil 4:5-6, psalm 32:8, Isaiah 26:3)</p>
<p>It is so much better to be happy and thankful than unhappy and complaining since we do not have the control over past and future it is better to be thankful for the present because our Lord is faithful and he will deliver us out of troubles if we earnestly seek him. HEBREWS 11:6 says <strong>“And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him”.</strong> when we go with a problem to God, we should not try to help God but should wait for His intervention patiently and not try to do things in our own way.</p>
<p>I remember Joyce Meyer saying that when we face with some difficulty or problem <strong>“we should run to the Throne of God rather than running to the Phone”. </strong>Generally we do the other way and then come to God. It is always good and a command to give God the first priority to God.</p>
<p>Yes, being thankful for everything is very difficult to grasp.</p>
<p>Proverbs 17:22 says <strong>“A happy heart is a good medicine and a cheerful mind work healing.”</strong></p>
<p>This is very true and I have experienced it many a times in my life over the past many years and it really does work. Try it out and see the change. God’s word is true they are yes and amen.</p>
<p>Isaiah 49:23b says <strong>“Those who hope in me (Jesus Christ) will not be disappointed”</strong></p>
<p>If God’s promises are only for those who live quite undisturbed lives then most of us are out of luck. Trouble and strife seem to be shadows that follow us but God’s promise to supply all our needs is a firm and unfailing as the law of gravity.</p>
<p>Put your faith in god’s promise to meet your needs and God will bring peace to you. This is what He revealed to us through Christ Jesus. Do not be discouraged if you have to go through problems. Personal experience is a far better teacher than anything that others can tell you about god.</p>
<p>So keep pressing on towards the goal which the Lord has set for us by praising, thanking and praying to Lord Jesus Christ and fixing our eyes upon Him alone. In 2 Corinthians 1:20 Paul says “no matter how many promises God has made, they are yes and amen in Christ”.</p>

<p>15. But if serving the LORD seems undesirable to you, then choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your forefathers served beyond the River, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you are living.  <b>But as for me and my household, we will serve the Lord.&#8221;</b><br />
16. Then the people answered, &#8220;Far be it from us to forsake the LORD to serve other gods!<br />
17. It was the LORD our God himself who brought us and our fathers up out of Egypt, from that land of slavery, and performed those great signs before our eyes. He protected us on our entire journey and among all the nations through which we traveled.<br />
18. And the LORD drove out before us all the nations, including the Amorites, who lived in the land. We too will serve the Lord, because he is our God. &#8220;<br />
19. Joshua said to the people, &#8220;You are not able to serve the Lord. He is a holy God; he is a jealous God. He will not forgive your rebellion and your sins.<br />
20. If you forsake the LORD and serve foreign gods, he will turn and bring disaster on you and make an end of you, after he has been good to you.&#8221;<br />
21. But the people said to Joshua, &#8220;No! We will serve the Lord.&#8221;<br />
22. Then Joshua said, &#8220;You are witnesses against yourselves that you have chosen to serve the Lord.&#8221; &#8220;Yes, we are witnesses, &#8221; they replied.<br />
23. &#8220;Now then,&#8221; said Joshua, &#8220;throw away the foreign gods that are among you and yield your hearts to the Lord, the God of Israel.&#8221;<br />
24. And the people said to Joshua, &#8220;We will serve the LORD our God and obey him.&#8221;</p>
<p>I was going through this passage this morning for my quite time with the Lord and found it very interesting and challenging for me to see the way Joshua reiterated his stand with the Lord when he felt that all the Israelite&#8217;s were choosing their own way even after God doing lot of miracles for them.</p>
<p>He did not feel alone in that situation because he has seen the Mighty hand of God. Joshua has been under training with Moses and has seen what all the Lord could do at times when we think it is impossible, and how he has led them in all their past. He was actually addressing all the leaders.It was Joshua&#8217;s Farewell to the Leaders and he is reminding them of all what the Lord has done and even in their rebellion and repentance how the Lord has reacted. Now he says that all of us have to make a choice.</p>
<p><b>Choose God who led you or not </b></p>
<p><b>First Choice</b> in vs 15a “But if serving the LORD seems undesirable to you, then choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your forefathers served beyond the River, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you are living.”</p>
<p><b>Second Choice</b> in vs 15b “But as for me and my household, we will serve the Lord”</p>
<p>When the consequences were explained to them they have chosen the second one to follow the Lord.</p>
<p>This reminds me of Paul and his stand for the Lord and his urge to preach the gospel in the New Testament from Acts 16:23-31.<br />
He says in Philippians 1:21 “For to me, to live is Christ and to die is gain”. His choice is always Jesus Christ whether he is free or in chains (in prison) all the time. He is passionate about the Lord Jesus Christ and his gospel.</p>
<p>Coming back to Acts 16 Paul and Silas showed a different attitude to the circumstance they were in which other wise naturally will be different. He got a little chance to grumble against God but his choice was always clear to him. As he said <b>“I no longer live but Christ lives in me”</b> he took that as an opportunity to praise God and preach the Gospel of Christ.</p>
<p>Imagine this situation it is said by historians that Paul and Silas were in the inner cell or dungeon and fastened their feet in the stocks and were standing and all the cities sewage water was passing through that and the waste was up to their waist.</p>
<p>I don&#8217;t think one can undergo that situation but if the Lord gives the strength then may be, but God is gracious and we did not have that situation. In these scenario they were praying and singing hymns to God and their was an earth quake and we all the rest. We see in Acts 16: 29:31 the jailer asked what must I do to be saved. The turning point is that Paul Said <b>&#8220;Believe in the Lord Jesus Christ.&#8221;</b></p>
<p>Let me put it in our context like this. Even though as followers of Jesus Christ we always think when certain circumstances demand, we should have made the first choice other wise we would be considered as lost by the world and we feel that we are lost because our friends, peers or the society might ignore us and consider us as fools but it is better to be a fool for Jesus Christ than to the world.</p>
<p>But when we see that things do not go by our way, we are not at peace and we feel discouraged and lot of feelings flow in our mind and all this is because of our wrong choice we made when we had a better one to choose from which seemed difficult at that point of time. As believers of Christ we should always choose the second choice or take that little chance to follow Christ as mentioned in the passage and we see that Joshua has chosen that little chance of following the Lord and never regretted.</p>
<p>Once we choose this we should not underestimate it because the Lord is at work and he will strengthen you in all situations because His promise is that “He will never leave you nor forsake you”. It is said that life in course of time will decide whether it is for good or bad the choice we made but the bible says that the choice we make to follow Christ is for our Good.</p>
<p>One thing we need to remember is that we need to count the cost of following the Lord. To serve the Living God (Jesus Christ) is not an easy task, but it will yield fruits in our life time we live in.</p>
<p><b>Our Future depends on what we have chosen today</b></p>
